Classes are a hands-on experience where your child is safe to freely explore unlike anywhere else! Squish, dump, mash, taste, splash, yes, yes, yes. Classes are relaxed and welcoming with music playing and a group of very focused little ones covered in very colorful things.
Class begins with Open Explore time to check out each of the many sensory stations setup each with their own theme, messy materials and tools. These are setup to be naturally engaging so your child can dive right in, no directions needed. This is a YES class, so as long as a child isn’t hurting themselves or others, let their curiosity be your guide.
In the second part of class we transition to more messy fun featuring teacher guided, individual messy activities. Each child receives their own sensory bins full of handmade, colorful materials created just for them! Every few minutes a teacher adds a new element or tool to the activities for a multi-sensory and skill building experience.
Grown-ups can choose to step back and let their kiddo dive in or to play right alongside them (materials can be irresistibly touchable to grown-ups too.)
Classes end with a blizzard of bubble, sticker and stamps.

Please come to class with a blanket to sit on (or towel) that can get a little messy for outdoor classes. Indoor classes don’t need this.
Both you and your child should wear clothes that can get a little messy. Please give this heads up to all caregivers attending class with your child. Materials will wash out of clothing, but why risk it.
Please also bring a change of clothes for your child just in case. You won’t need them every week, but some classes are messier than others. Classes with water play activities tend to be an immersive experience.
Provided in class: Smocks, paper towels, wipes, hand sanitizer and sanitizing spray.
Most parents have found it useful to bring extra wipes.

Choosing the best enrichment classes for your kiddos is important and cost matters. Classes are each $35 + $10 for materials/supplies. A lot of unique things that happen in a Sensory Play Labs classes. Until you’ve experienced one, the price might seem high. The feedback from parents continues to be, it seemed high at first, but whoa, it’s definitely priced right. (Which means the world to SPL!)
Pricing includes the preparation of handmade materials, class setup and cleanup. Materials aren’t shared along with tools, bins and anything else used during class is offered to each child.
What each child receives:
Individual setups including their own small table, up to three different bins, up to 4 unique tools, different sized containers, toys and add-ons.
Handmade materials, edible and non-toxic (toddler classes). This keeps out the junk and also helps parents know exactly what their child is consuming.
Activities;
Each class features two-three activities. Each activity includes multiple materials.
Ex: Oat Farms
Hand-dyed (food coloring) oats are presented in a bin set up with a farm scene including pails, fences and watering cans. Each child picks their own farm animal. Then it’s time to feed their animals with pies of brightly colored shredded lettuce. Next come out tools like different sized scoopers. Finally, it’s time to put on a smock as mud colored cinnamon yogurt is poured into each child’s farm bin. (Little pigs to swim in there too.) This is ONE activity. There are up to two additional activities each class.
Along with activities are bubble “storm” making bubble machines, music and stickers!

Yes! The Upright Bunch’s edible materials are handmade and developmentally appropriate for kiddos that have started solids. Materials are made with baby safe foods and not from “junk food.” Materials like whipped cream are handmade without the sugar. Instead of Jello we use Agar-Agar (a vegan alternative derived from seaweed.) Simple baking ingredients are also utilized like corn starch, grains, and vegan thickeners like guar gum. If a material like flour is used, it is first heat treated and not offered to infants “raw.” By first cooking the flour to at least 160 degrees, it can be eaten (think no-bake cookie dough in the grocery store.) Class is nut free and very rarely contains eggs. If your child is gluten free, please reach out directly.
Materials are also thoughtfully created to avoid being a choking hazard. Experiencing sensory play activities can be incredibly beneficial to your budding food connoisseurs.
The Toddlers’ class materials are non-toxic, but not always edible. Sugar does pop up here in things like frosting playdough, but most kiddos just taste it. When possible, materials are made without the sugar. Ex: the chocolate mud uses unsweetened cocoa powder.

Sessions run for 6 weeks.

Allergy adjustments are made for edible activities. Allergy information is required at signup. There is space to include any comparable substitutions being used at home (ie dairy yogurt for coconut yogurt.) We will also ask a parent to tell us an approved list. We never use nuts, eggs, honey and even when we use flour, it’s been heat treated so it’s not offered “raw.”
Each class features multiple edible activities so be assured, even with a food allergy, your child will never feel left out of the fun.

While the materials and tools are presented in developmentally and age-appropriate ways, kids can be very creative in their play. Each child must attend with a caregiver and be watched closely. Your child’s safety is the responsibility of a parent or caregiver.
Each kiddo has their own safely distanced station, materials and tools.
Help keep everyone safe by encouraging your kiddo not to visit other stations.
Direct any wandering towards the park's open or play spaces. Do not allow your child to reach into another child’s bin. We’ve been able to relax this a little as Covid eases, but please ask one another clearly before letting kids interact.
All of The Upright Bunch class materials are edible, food grade and mouthing friendly.
The Toddlers + use edible and non-toxic materials that could contain choking risks for children still mouthing. (Ex: dried beans, small stones, glitter, paint.)
